Dust Bowl BeemersBMW Motorcycle Riders Group
Dust Bowl Beemers Motorcycle Club
The Dust Bowl Beemers is an informal group of enthusiastic BMW owners and riders founded in 1984 all nd located in Lubbock, Texas. We are charter members of the BMW Motorcycle Owners Association (BMW MOA #170) with members owning new and old BMWs, as well as other brands of motorcycles. We are an informal group with no rules, no dues, no by-laws and we welcome all motorcycle riders.
Weather permitting we have club events and rallies every month as well as some spontaneous breakfast and other rides from time to time. We have an informal breakfast, followed by coffee and donuts, every Saturday morning and a dinner/business meeting once a month. If you ride motorcycles, we would like to meet you. Come to one of our events listed on this website and introduce yourself… Don’t be bashful!

Headquarters: Legends Inn –

Tour the beautiful Hill Country of Texas with the vaunted and colorful (albeit somewhat long-in-tooth) Geezers and Scalawags motorcycle group (a somewhat elderly off-shoot of the illustrious DustBowl Beemers Motorcycle Club of Lubbock. But, let’s face it most of us are elderly nowadays). Follow G & S through the undulating hills on the “Twisted Sisters” (Ranch Roads 335, 336, 337) around Camp Wood, Leakey, Vanderpool, and Medina. Go with G & S to rugged downtown Lukenbach. Or create your own tour! Help Geezers pick up their bikes at some of the stops! Three days of glorious fun and riding; three nights of partying after the day’s riding! A limited number of commemorative caps will also be available for sale.
For those of you in Lubbock and the surrounding area, some of us will leave from the Stripes Convenience Store on U.S. 84 @ MLK on Thurs, April 15th at 9:00 AM. Arrive in Junction at 1:30 or so, eat some BBQ (@ Lum’s BBQ, just down Main St), throw some of your stuff in the room, and head out for an exciting ride, or grab an adult beverage and sit and visit. Most of us will return on Sunday, April 18th. All makes of bikes are welcome.
Jan, 2021 to June 30, 2021
Fri, Jan 15 or Sat, Jan 16 – Mon, Jan 18 – MLK weekend. People who work might have the day off. Weather permitting, it would be a good weekend for an Alpine or Junction trip or ????.
Feb xx – Feb xx – And if not in Jan, then we can try for Feb on the Alpine/Ft Davis/Junction ride.
Mar xx – Mar xx – Nothing planned yet. Any ideas?
Fri, Apr 16 – Sun, Apr 18 – The 24th annual Geezers and Scalawags Hill Country Tour. Headquarters is the Legends Inn, but we usually manage to occupy several motels in town. This is our club function. Commemorative caps will be on sale here in Lubbock and in Junction. If you don’t have reservations at the Legends, they have a waiting list you can get on. Check on your reservation even if you have one to avoid the problem I had a couple of years ago (mis-identified room.). A lot of us will go to Junction on Thurs, the 16th. This mostly did not happen last year due to the Wuhan virus (I think 10 people went anyway).
Thurs, May 13 – Sun, May 16 – Aspencash Motorcycle Rally (also, AMA District 45 Rally) in Ruidoso, NM. This is the spring counterpart to the September Rally in Ruidoso, and a lot smaller in turnout, usually in the 5,000 – 6,000 range. New owners, as of year before last, according to Rider Magazine. Not sure where or even IF it will be held. Live music, demo rides, trade show, etc.
Thurs, May 20 – Mon, May 24 – Memorial Day weekend in Angel Fire and Sipapu. We split the houses a few years ago. Jackson’s house is still in Angel Fire; the other place is a couple of suites at Sipapu Resort. Jackson’s bunch will go over on Thurs, the other bunch will go over on Fri. Contact John Summers or Jackson Ashburn to get on one of their lists.
Thurs, June 10 – Sun, June 13 – Republic of Texas Rally (ROT Rally) in Austin, at the Travis County Expo Center. Mostly for Harley types, but one can see the occasional BMW running around. They usually have good music if you like heavy metal rock and roll. www.rotrally.com
Thurs, June 24 – Sun, June 27 – 48th (49th?) annual BMW National Rally. This didn’t happen last year due to the Wuhan virus. Same place as the last year rally was supposed to be – Great Falls, Montana, at the Montana Expo Park. I have heard of several DBBers planning on going to this one. $85 at the gate. Various deals on cost before then; check your copy of the MOA magazine.
